MUTUAL AID:
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
We live in a world of plenty. We exist within systems of reciprocity. When we honor these truths we can access our gratitude and find joy in caring one another.

24/7 Free Food Pantry
The BALE 24/7 Free Food Pantry opened in 2021 and currently moves countless pounds of free food — donated by neighbors and local businesses — through our community.
Jeanette Digby, 5th generation Royalton resident, delivers food weekly & estimates this alone feeds more than 75 people.
The food is always free for all, all hours, 365 days a year.
The pantry accepts donations of persishables in the mini-fridge on the right hand side and nonperishables in the cupboard on the left. Please only leave food items in the pantry. Contact: mutualaid@balevt.org with any questions
Soup’s On!
Call to action:
No one in our communities should go hungry!
A group of neighbors are revitalizing a soup-making initiative through the BALE Food Pantry.
For community members who would like to help, consider a donation of time by volunteering. We can use cooks, sous-chefs, packers and labelers. Cook on your own, or join a fun soup-making group. Donations of ingredients and money are also welcome.
If you would like to help, please let us know by responding to mutualaid@balevt.org
BALE Free Store
Re-using Resouces, Reducing Waste, Redistributing Goods
The FREE STORE is a mutual aid / gift economy project. It is an invitation to recognize our tremendous capacity to sustain and support one another within our community by gifting items to new homes, and receiving gifts from our neighbors as an alternative to purchasing.
BALE opens a space for community members to donate used clothing, books, housewares and toys in good condition and to come “shop” these items for free.
The FREE STORE is open outside the BALE Commons seasonally (late-Spring - early Fall) on Monday afternoons from 3-6pm.
BALE is always seeking support from our community to run the free store. Volunteers help set up tables and pop-up tent, arrange items, receive donations, and chat with community members as they stop by to shop or donate. If you’d like to get involved you can sign up to staff just one event or as many as you like.
